IWALK for ACTS is a 5K run/walk and family festival to raise funds and awareness for our most vulnerable neighbors in need. Funds raised benefit Action in Community Through Service.  Your partnership in this event is not only tax deductible, but will help tens of thousands of Prince William County residents in need.

 Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) provides relief, fosters hope and promotes self-sufficiency for our Prince William area neighbors in crisis. Your contributions help support the following programs 

Serving as a beacon of hope in the Greater Prince William Area for over 50 years, Action in Community through Service’s (ACTS) mission to provide relief, foster hope, and promote self-sufficiency for our Prince William Area neighbors in crisis was tested like never before over the past two years — and with the support of this amazing community we rose to the challenge.

Your contributions help support the following programs that served as a lifeline for so many during the pandemic.  Our level of service in Fiscal Year 2021 was incredible:

• Crisis Helpline — the only suicide/crisis prevention/intervention hotline in the Prince William Area, as well as an reassurance call service for senior citizens.  This is a free, confidential, 24-hour telephone service (703-368-4141) that responded to 16,945 crisis calls last year (including 4,280 suicide calls) and reached out to isolated seniors 13,854 times with an encouraging word.
• Domestic Violence Services — the Prince William Area’s only comprehensive domestic violence prevention and intervention program.  We provided shelter; individual and group support for men, women, and children; court advocacy for 3,228 victims of domestic violence.
• Sexual Assault Services — the Prince William Area’s only comprehensive sexual assault and abuse prevention and intervention program. We provided individual and group support for men, women, and children, as well as court advocacy and hospital accompaniment for 869 victims of sexual assault and abuse (including 334 children).
• Emergency Assistance — utility bill assistance for those who face disconnection.  We paid over $391,570 toward overdue balances, keeping utilities on for 980 families.
• Emergency Shelter and Permanent Housing — ongoing financial assistance and case management to keep families from returning to homelessness.  We put $709,842 toward security deposits, rent, and mortgage bills, as well as hotel stays when shelters were full and opened a second safe house to keep people from the streets.
• Hunger Prevention Center — nutritious, supplemental food assistance.  Through our Dumfries location we provided 19,486 individuals (including 7,831 children) with 528,696 pounds of food.
• Thrift Store, the only one in our area where 100% of the proceeds stay local, directly supporting our programs and services.
